in the dark

an unsteady heart

a soul that grows dark

Desperate eyes beg for light

Moonlight hides

And the sun cannot be summoned

She lies awake

she never sleeps

in a daze

The poison peaks

It doesn’t matter if he loves

Her or someone else

He holds her often enough

The lie becomes easy to tell

A stranger haunts my mirrors

The vestige of a child longing to be seen

I drown her in silence

and lock the door behind me

Rest only comes for those with peace

 Pain would be a luxury

But for the paralysis of an empty tomb

It is a futile search

Fables were told of a magnificent heart

But even the bravest of men

Would be lost in the dark

Of a soul that has forgotten
