sidewalk wine

The glimmer in his eyes

dancing in the dimly lit

swimming in burgundy sips

and shivers of December

Held fast my gaze

traced the blush of my cheek

Waking a part of my home that I thought lost

deep in slumber and overgrown

The snow that softly floats around us

settling in our hair

melting in our sidewalk wine

is dust is shaken from the chandelier

that flickers to life

and illuminates the hall

Inexorably plunging

amidst delicate times

There are things I cannot yet proclaim

we speak in cloak and dagger whispers

of if they found us out

We carved the story into pavement

preserved the place where it all came back to me

an indelible fire that I thought had gone

had rekindled

I was his forever

I always had been
